Ever wonder what a family of 5 eats for $800 a month? Below I am sharing our monthly meal plan for May of 2024.
One of my favorite ways to plan out and keep track of our meals for the month is by using an acrylic calendar that I keep on the side of my fridge.
Not only is it easy for me to know what food items I need to shop for every week but it also helps my family see what we are eating.
When planning our meals for the month I will typically only cook Sunday – Thursday. I always throw in 1 day a week as a leftover day and Fridays are my infamous FFY days (Fend for yourself).
On FFY days the kids will usually make themselves something frozen like chicken nuggets or a frozen pizza. Saturdays have become our weekly takeout day.
Planning our meals like this has not only saved us lots of money but it provides that necessary balance in our meal plan. We are cooking at home more, eating through our leftovers as well as still having a takeout day to look forward to every week.
Here are all of the dinner meals that we have made for the month of May. Please note that by clicking on a recipe link you will be taken to the creator of the recipes website not my own.
